Instructions regarding Traps/Raids/Searches by the State Vigilance Bureau, Haryana

Haryana Govt has decided that in Trap cases by State Vigilance Bureau, Haryana some responsible and impartial person or persons should have witnessed the transaction and/or overhear the conversation of the suspect public servant. Similar requirement is there in other criminal proceedings like searches as well. The Gazetted officers of the territorial jurisdiction of the district concerned where the case is registered or the raid is to be conducted, shall assist and witness a trap/raid or other criminal proceedings as the case may be whenever they are approached by the State Vigilance Bureau. The District Magistrate shall, on the request of Bureau, appoint suitable Gazetted Officer to join the proceedings. Refusal to assist or witness a trap or other criminal proceedings like searches, on the part of a public servant will be regarded as a breach of duty and disciplinary may be taken against him.
